Moving is one of the most stressful things a person can do! Your space is in disarray, boxes are everywhere, and then you have to find a new place for all of your things in your new home. Talk about chaos!

Here are some tips to making your move less stressful:

Declutter first! Make a list or create boxes of things you plan to get rid of well before the actual move. You can often sell some belongings that you don’t wish to bring with you to make $$$ for items you wish to buy for your new home. Try using Kijiji or Facebook Marketplace.

Use a labeling system. This is key! Label each box by room or contents so you can easily organize the boxes for each room once you get possession of your new home.

Focus on one room at a time. This is pretty simple but it truly helps! Focusing on one room at a time allows you to tackle and complete your packing in a more organized way. Celebrate the win when each room is completed!

Ask for help. It’s so important to have a support system in a stressful environment - ask your friends, family members (or even your REALTOR) for help! Offer to host a packing party with pizza and drinks to make it fun.

Hire a professional moving company. If you are feeling overwhelmed about the move and don’t want to take care of it yourself - hire it out! Research reliable companies (or ask your REALTOR for recommendations). Many companies have different options to choose from that offer basic to extensive services.

Pack a bag with the important everyday items. The first couple days can be hectic - be sure to have a bag packed with the essentials such as shampoo, soap, toilet paper, a few pairs of clothing, phone charger, etc.
